Cassandra Norwood

I am entering my 13th year as a social worker, and my 1st year as the school social worker at Main Street School. I graduated from University of Alabama in 1999 with a dual degree in Psychology and Social Work. After getting married and moving to Colorado I went back to school and graduated from the University of Denver with my MSW. I went on to get my LCSW. I have worked in the medical field since my graduation in 2004. I have enjoyed using my personal skill to help patients and families cope with illness in hospital, home health and hospice settings.

Although I have primarily been working in the medical field, I have always had a passion for working with children. I studied children and families in both undergraduate and graduate school. During undergraduate school I was a para professional in a school for children with developmental disabilities. My experience in that school really sparked my passion for working with children who have special needs.  I found great reward and satisfaction from my interactions with these children. I continued along the same track during graduate school focusing my final research and comprehensive paper on the benefits of early intervention in Boulder County.

I am looking forward to being able to spend my days helping Main Street students learn the skills necessary to be successful at Main Street, their home schools, and in the community!

When I'm not at work, I love spending time with husband and two boys. As well as enjoying all the opportunities Colorado has to offer.
